Heather Godfrey

Co-Founder and Executive Director

Heather Godfrey has been teaching dance and working with children for over 20 years.  Through her work with Dance Project of Washington  Heights she has combined her passion for dance, performance, children and her love of the Washington Heights community.

As part of her B.A. in Dance from Barnard College. Columbia University, Heather trained in ballet, Simonson, Graham, Cunningham, and Humphrey Limon technique as well as Anna Sokolow repertory.  She also studied Dance History, Dance in Latin American Culture, and Kinesiology.

Following graduation, Heather went on to pursue a career as a dancer in professional musical theater.  She performed in the National Tour of The Will Rogers Follies, West Side Story at Portland Center Stage, White Christmas and Damn Yankees at Carousel Dinner Theater, and Fiorello! at Snug Harbor Cultural Center in Staten Island as well as appearing in numerous smaller productions, corporate events and supper club shows.

Heather especially loves teaching young children, and has developed a creative, age-appropriate curriculum for babies, toddlers, and young preschoolers.  She also teaches ballet, jazz, tap and lyrical jazz to older children and beginner adults.
